English version of a booklet ‘Travel Guide in Kagoshima City’ is available at Kagoshima city official web site, and a local copy of it is placed here (in case the site is very slow). Use 20131002. Enjoy!
We would like to let you know that the Mt. Sakurajima is a volcano located close to Kagoshima city, and is relatively active these days. It is often the case you catch a certain amount of volcanic ash, just suddenly coming down from the sky. It is hard to forecast eruption of Sakurajima and it happens more than a couple of times a day. When we have east wind when erupted, all the ash falls down to Kagoshima city, but in case of west wind we do not have any volcanic ash at all. Fortunately, from autumn to spring the wind tends to blow from west to east, but you should be prepared just for bad cases. We recommend you to carry a small umbrella and a mouth-mask, and to put on bright colored clothes because the volcanic ash would be distinctive on dark/black colored clothes. It could be annoying to work after a big ash fall, but it should be noted that it is quite unusual to experience products of living active volcano that cannot be found in your usual daily life. Have fun of it! (T.Ueda)
If you present a poster in JTBW2013, you also have a chance to get an official Poster Presentation Award. It’s a proof of your honorable work and is your carrier-enhancing milestone. Not only the poster presentation itself, but also the poster preview performance and your picture on the web will help you get closer to the award, I guarantee. I would encourage all the poster-presenting students to come to the poster list and see/open, for example, Ms. Kaori Oshita’s poster, then you realize how important you appeal yourself.
T.Ueda, the local committee.
ONLY for poster presenters. Submit Poster Slides by Deadline September 27 (Friday), please. Oral speakers are NOT requested to submit anything further.
This is just for ensuring that has already been annouced as a part of poster presentation instructions. Please submit your oral presentation materials (in PowerPoint) to the local committee (jtbw2013lc@biohybrid.org) no later than September 27 (Friday). Please note that the compilation work of your materials will be done on next Saturday, therefore you shouldn’t give it behind the deadline.
The administrative office of our web server warned that the site is continueously attacked from abroad these days. As far, though only members of the local committee and the organizing committee have access privileges to log in the official web site, the web administrative is afraid that I should stop allowing log-ins from abroad any more due to the warning. I am sorry for your inconvenience and would appreciate if you could feel something uncomfortable to use this web site after turning overseas accesses off on this friday 20th September. This action has no effect at all on accessing and browsing the pages as a general visitor. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
The agenda page shows you the program of oral presentations and assignments of chair persons. The local committee would cordially ask you to let us know if there could be unintentional errors or if you could have a special request about the order of oral presentations and the assignments of chair persons. Thank you very much for your cooperation.
